Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Our Lady Queen of Africa Rubaga Girls’ S.S.

With the opportunity given to us to pass on our message to the students joining our family in Senior 1 and Senior 5, allow us first to thank the Almighty God for His providence. We are exceedingly happy that you made the choice to join Rubaga Girls’ Secondary School. We are convinced you chose this school because of its quality academic programs and renowned discipline. As Deputy Head Teachers, we are charged with the responsibility of ensuring that discipline prevails in our school community. Defining Discipline at Rubaga In our school context, discipline is defined as the extent to which students, teachers, parents, and staff accept, embrace, and conform to set rules and regulations without coercion. It is a shared commitment: The Student: Expected to keep time, attend all lessons, and participate in programmed school activities. The Teacher: Expected to teach strictly on schedule and fulfill all assigned extra-curricular duties. The Parent: Expected to support their children and attend all school activities that involve parents. Simply put, failure to meet these obligations constitutes indiscipline. To ensure clarity, a copy of the school rules and regulations is provided to every learner and parent before admission to read, understand, and sign.

Our Disciplinary System & Fair Hearing We have a robust system to ensure rules are implemented fairly. Should a breach of conduct occur, we ensure a fair hearing through the following hierarchy:

The Students’ Court: Headed by the Chief Judge.

The Staff Disciplinary Committee: Headed by the Deputy Head Teacher.

The Academic Committee of the Board: Headed by the Chairperson of the Academic Committee.

The Board of Governors: Headed by the Chairperson.

Our Philosophy: Discipline with Love We are passionate about discipline because it is the foundation of Rubaga Girls’ success. However, our approach is one of “tough love.” We strictly condemn and reject the use of excessive, harsh, or irrational corporal punishment.

Instead, we have put in place deliberate policies to ensure a culture of love and responsibility. Our discipline is not based on threats or suppression, but on understanding achieved through written explanations, patient guidance, and continuous counseling.

Conclusion We emphasize discipline because we believe that “once a student of Rubaga Girls, always a representative of Rubaga Girls.” You are a reflection of our school through your behavior, values, and personality. It would not do to call ourselves a good school if our products (the students) suggest otherwise.

Enlighten for the Future.
